The velodrome wins IOC-IAKS awards

It was in Cologne, Germany, that the Bromont Velodrome received the “2025 IOC IAKS Architecture Prize for sustainable, accessible, and innovative sports and leisure facilities” organized by the International Olympic Committee and the IAKS. This prestigious international competition recognizes nine sports facilities. In addition to their exceptional architectural design, the winning facilities stand out for their sustainability, added value to the community, exemplary accessibility, and innovative character. This year, the jury received 69 entries from 25 countries.

Since fall 2022, the Sylvan Adams Velodrome - Desjardins Multisport Center has been home to the cycling track inherited from the Atlanta Olympics, allowing elite cyclists to train there 12 months a year. The design team decided to raise the track to allow the complex to accommodate running and athletics corridors, a training area with ramps, a pump track, and multi-sport gym spaces located in the center of the track. This project stands out for its social impact, bringing together elite sports and community outreach.
