Description

Built in 1969 by Dorval & Fortin architectes in the Pointe-de-Sainte-Foy district, the school's emblematic 1970s architecture features concrete panel cladding with reddish masonry inserts.

The school offers a francization service for immigrants and "Étoiles filantes" classes for students with autism spectrum disorders. The school's primary objective is to foster inclusiveness and a deep sense of belonging within the Sainte-Foy community.

The expansion involves the creation of 10 new classrooms, multi-purpose spaces, a motor room and related facilities. The intervention creates architectural continuity, favoring porosity between interior and exterior, with visual openings to the landscape and outdoor spaces. The existing structures are complemented by open spaces, forming a coherent whole. The original school retains its current role, housing administrative areas, the gymnasium and various learning spaces. The extension, meanwhile, forms the third pole, housing dining areas, reception areas, multi-purpose spaces, as well as places dedicated to learning and collaboration. The motricity room is strategically located near the existing sports facilities, while the learning hub is in the centre of the new building.
