An architecture in motion, from circulation to envelope.
Conceived as a facility in motion, the Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville Multi-Sport Centre brings together a wide range of activities around a circulation path that continuously connects sport and architecture. Inside, a suspended track moves through and reveals the different activity zones; outside, an envelope animated by vertical fins transforms the perception of the building through movement and light.
Located within Parc Marie-Victorin, already defined by a strong concentration of outdoor sports facilities, the complex extends this recreational vocation by bringing aquatic, athletic, and community programs together under one roof. The aquatic centre includesa 25-metre competition pool with ten lanes, a recreational pool, a Kino River, water play features, and a waterslide, while the sports wing includes a double gymnasium, a fitness room, and multipurpose rooms. A suspended interior track of approximately 270 metres encircles the facilities at the second level and becomes a true architectural promenade: it multiplies views over the pools, the gymnasium, the various activities, and the surrounding landscape, showcasing the diversity of uses that animate the complex.
This idea of movement continues in the architectural expression of the façades. A succession of vertical fins forms a sculptural brise-soleil whose depth and rhythm are defined according to solar exposure. Their layered arrangement creates a parallax effect that changes the reading of the envelope depending on the angle of approach, giving the building an ever-changing presence within the park. Beyond its formal expression, the project places accessibility at the heart of the user experience, with circulation routes and facilities designed to welcome a wide diversity of users. Targeting Rick Hansen Foundation Gold certification, the complex brings together movement, inclusivity, and openness to create a deeply collective sports facility.
