An iconic performance venue renewed for contemporary creation.
The renovation of Octave-Crémazie Hall at the Grand Théâtre de Québec modernizes its public spaces, stage facilities, and technical infrastructure to provide an enhanced experience for artists, technicians, and audiences alike. Completed within one of Québec's most significant architectural landmarks, the project successfully balances heritage preservation, technical performance, and the quality of the visitor experience.
The intervention included the complete transformation of the foyer, the renovation of artists' dressing rooms, the reconstruction of the stage area, the replacement of the auditorium ceilings, and significant upgrades to the venue's acoustic and theatrical performance. Once dark and inward-looking, the foyer has been reimagined as a welcoming gathering space offering a variety of atmospheres for audiences before and after performances. Behind the scenes, the artists' facilities were entirely redesigned to improve functionality and comfort. The stage floor was rebuilt using a new resilient timber flooring system, while stage rigging, theatrical lighting, and technical equipment were comprehensively modernized to meet the demands of contemporary productions.
This project forms part of a long-standing collaboration between ABCP and the Grand Théâtre de Québec. Since 2004, the firm has contributed to numerous projects involving asset preservation, feasibility studies, heritage conservation, interior design, scenography, and the integration of advanced technical systems. The renovation of Octave-Crémazie Hall stands as one of the most significant milestones in this enduring partnership, restoring the venue's functionality, technical performance, and welcoming character while ensuring its continued role as a leading cultural destination.
