More than an indoor soccer facility, Chauveau Stadium was conceived as a true community landmark where architecture, landscape, and environmental performance come together. Defined by its spectacular timber structure and its sensitive integration into the site, the project delivers a high-quality athletic experience while reflecting the City of Québec's commitment to sustainable, versatile, and inspiring public architecture.
Designed as a major regional sports facility, Chauveau Stadium provides the city with a year-round, multi-purpose venue. Its full-size indoor soccer field accommodates both training sessions and competitive events, while its support spaces also serve the surrounding outdoor sports fields within the park. The building is carefully embedded into the site's natural topography, reducing its visual impact and preserving the park's landscape character. Public functions are arranged at a pedestrian scale, creating a seamless transition between the surrounding green space and this large athletic facility.
The stadium's identity is defined by its remarkable roof, supported by eleven glued laminated timber arches spanning a clear distance of 73 metres. Recognized for its innovative structural design, the timber system showcases a renewable material while creating an exceptional interior space. Generous glazing, views toward the playing fields, and natural ventilation strategies contribute to a comfortable, energy-efficient environment that earned LEED NC Silver certification. Through its sustainable architecture, structural innovation, and thoughtful integration into the landscape, Chauveau Stadium has become a benchmarkfor contemporary sports infrastructure.
