Description

Established in 1974 in a former military building (built in 1954), Université Laval's Faculty of Dentistry was subsequently expanded in 1980 to meet demand. The pre-clinical teaching laboratories and several classrooms had not been revamped since. The furniture and services had therefore reached the end of their useful life. ABCP was therefore commissioned to give these spaces a facelift (carried out in two separate phases) during the spring/summer sessions of 2016 and 2017.

The project involved refurbishing and renovating the preclinical laboratory area to bring the facilities up to teaching standards with current technologies. Infrastructure was brought up to standard and basic services were updated to properly accommodate state-of-the-art equipment and ensure the safety of staff and students. In particular, the integration of simulators (practice mannequins) in the new laboratories enables tomorrow's dentists to practice in a much more realistic context, with equipment similar to that used in clinics.

Added to the mandate was the renovation and refitting of three theory classrooms to make them more functional, versatile and technological. A partial refit and upgrade of the endodontics and periodontics area of the teachers' clinic was also on the agenda. The integration of technical equipment brought the examination rooms up to date and up-to-date.
