The TELUS Soccer Stadium is part of a larger regional project to expand Université Laval’s PEPS sports complex. The new, indoor soccer stadium, with its 100 m x 60 m synthetic turf playing field subdivided into three smaller fields, can accommodate soccer games and soccer, football, and rugby training sessions. Its bleachers can seat 450. The soccer stadium, which lies next to the existing outdoor football stadium, provides an attractive interface between the two facilities, which share services. The building also houses a series of boxes with a superb view of the football field. Sanitation services and food concessions in the soccer complex are available to spectators at the outdoor stadium in lieu of the temporary facilities previously used during football games.

The building’s main structure is composed of a glulam frame supported by 13 variable-inertia arches. Wood was used for the main structure in response to Université Laval’s request for a sustainable building. With the structure’s acoustic and esthetic qualities, this is a truly exemplary project. Furthermore, a series of “green” measures have significantly reduced the stadium’s operating costs.
