Training tomorrow's professionals in an environment of excellence.
The Garneau CEGEP Dental Hygiene Teaching Clinic provides a learning environment that mirrors the highest standards of professional practice. Housed within a historic 1938 building, the project combines advanced technologies, high-quality patient care, and pedagogical excellence to offer students a comprehensive and immersive educational experience.
The project completely transformed the clinical and teaching facilities to meet the evolving needs of contemporary dental hygiene education. The main clinic includes fourteen treatment rooms serving real patients, while a twelve-chair training clinic allows students to practise on one another under the direct supervision of instructors. Equipped with multimedia systems, the teaching clinic supports live demonstrations and collaborative learning. The program also features a radiology training area with seven specialized rooms, including one dedicated to 3D panoramic imaging, as well as two sterilization centres designed to support both clinical practice and instruction in best aseptic procedures.
The facility also incorporates classrooms, a library, a laboratory, a nutrition room, and a plaster room, bringing together all educational functions within a cohesive and high-performance environment. The spatial organization promotes intuitive circulation, effective student supervision, and high-quality learning while accommodating the demanding technical requirements of modern dental care. The result is a state-of-the-art educational facility where architecture, technology, and pedagogy work seamlessly together to prepare the next generation of dental hygiene professionals.
