A school designed for the future of learning.
Explorateurs Elementary School brings together sustainable design, educational innovation, and a strong connection to nature in a learning environment designed to evolve alongside its students. LEED certified, the school offers bright, flexible, and technology-rich spaces that promote both academic success and the well-being of the entire school community.
The school accommodates 26 classrooms, including four kindergarten classrooms, a daycare centre, administrative offices, and a double gymnasium that remains accessible to the community outside school hours. Its architecture is organized around two main building volumes connected by a spacious central hall that structures circulation and encourages interaction. The building's elongated form, featuring expansive glazing, maximizes views of the surrounding natural landscape while filling interior spaces with abundant daylight throughout the day.
Conceived as a new generation of learning environment, the school seamlessly integrates digital technologies into its educational spaces while embracing a sustainable design approach. Healthy materials, views to the outdoors, high-quality natural daylight, and outstanding energy performance contribute to a stimulating and comfortable environment for both students and staff. Designed with exceptional flexibility, the project was adapted during the design process to incorporate five additional classrooms, demonstrating the building's capacity to evolve alongside the changing needs of the school community.
