Description

École de l'Aventure expansion project includes seven new classrooms. Built in the 1960s on boulevard Johnny-Parent in Loretteville, the existing school was at full capacity, accommodating some 165 students. The addition of the new classrooms, as well as a multi-purpose room and resource classrooms, has made it possible to accommodate a further 135 students. The success of the project relies on the harmonious integration of the extension with the building to provide a varied and stimulating learning environment.

Particular attention was paid to the location of the extension and its connection with the existing school. Analysis of circulation patterns and the site led us to locate the new building on the Loranger Street side, protecting part of the courtyard from prevailing winds and consolidating the built environment, while taking advantage of the presence of mature trees on the site. Near the entrance, the multi-purpose room is completely glazed to the outside, serving as a call for students to arrive and as a showcase for the school's activities.

In order to offer rich and varied spaces, the project takes shape around the concept of the learning street. Circulation areas are redesigned as "zones of innovative pedagogical education" (ZEPI) and sociability. Classrooms are south-facing, with generous windows providing strong contact between the teacher and the class.
